SLIME SHOPS: MEANING, POPULAR SLIME SHOPS AND DIY RECIPES
Written by Medhaavi Mishra

Slime has taken the world by storm and if you’re one of those who has never heard of slime, you must seriously be living under a rock. No, really. Read on to know everything about slime including it’s meaning, popular slime shops and DIY slime recipes.

WHAT EXACTLY IS SLIME?

Slime can be described as a slightly sticky, durable glue that comes in different consistency and colors.

In other words, it is a sticky, gooey substance made by mixing water and a compound called Borax or Sodium Borate and has a thick, glue-like texture. It can be made in several colors.

For kids, slime is one of the coolest projects to make, decorate, personalize, or just play with it. It is also an amazing learning tool.

Even though it is oozy, it won’t stick to your skin and it switches between being in the solid and liquid state.

WHAT IS ITS ORIGIN?

A toy introduced by popular retailers Mattel invented slime in 1976. It was primarily made from a powdered product known as guar gum which was extracted from the guar beans.

Since then, slime has a come a long way; slime is now available in different colors and consistency. From glittery to multi-colored, slime is pretty much available in every possible color and texture.

Eye-catching videos of individuals playing with slime are addictive to watch (and strangely therapeutic) and have already gone viral.

CAN I REPLACE BORAX?

Due to safety reasons, some individuals prefer to replace borax and so can you. Replace borax with slime glue and liquid cornstarch.

Just mix 1 tsp liquid cornstarch with 4 oz glue and a little bit of starch until you reach the desired consistency. And if you’re using liquid cornstarch to replace borax, then skip using water.

HOW TO GET RID OF SLIME FROM MY CLOTHES?

Quickly get a paper towel, pour a little vinegar on it and dab on the affected area. Slime will come off almost instantly!

HOW TO STORE SLIME?

Water is one of the key ingredients of slime when it comes to maintaining its consistency. Slime hardens when the water in it evaporates and vice versa.

To make sure that your slime remains fresh and gooey, store it in a container that keeps the water in the slime intact.

Another concern with buying slime is whether it will have borax in it or not. While some slime is available without borax, there are some that aren’t so read the ingredients before placing the order.
